Information about RAS
The Rabat American School in Rabat, Morocco, is an independent co-educational school which offers an American/international educational program from Pre-K through grade twelve for students of all nationalities. The academic year is three trimesters extending from the middle of August to the middle of June.

Organization: The School is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees elected for 2- year terms by the Rabat American School Association, the patrons of the school.

Curriculum: The curriculum is highly academic and similar to that of U.S. private schools, with instruction is in English and includes the I.B. program for 11th and 12th grade students.
French and Arabic are taught as World Languages. Desktop publishing, economics, computer science, physical education, yearbook/literary magazine, Moroccan studies, drama, music and art are included in the curriculum as electives. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Faculty: There are 50 full-time and 8 part-time faculty members in the 2007-08 school year. Of these 26 are U.S. citizens, 9 host-country nationals and 21 persons of other nationalities.

Enrollment: Enrollment at the beginning of the 2005-06 school year was 377(PreK-5= 163, 6-8= 90, 9-12= 124). Of the total, 22% were U.S. Citizens, 33% were host-country nationals, and 45% were of other nationalities. Approximately 20 embassies have have students at RAS.

Facilities: The school is housed on a campus of 5.6 acres with facilities that include: 2 libraries; a building containing rooms for art, music, foreign language and a computer science center with 3 computer laboratories; an auditorium; a lower elementary classroom area; an upper elementary classroom area; and a secondary building area including a nurse’s office. Facilities also include an administrative building, a sports field, a swimming pool, gymnastics room, weight room, locker rooms, gymnasium and a cafeteria.
