The Club-Riad is a private tennis club owned by Redal in Rabat, Morocco. The club is open from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. and is available to anyone who wishes to play tennis, swim, or enjoy the eating facilities. The club runs eight clay tennis courts which can be reserved by the hour. But from 8:30 p.m. through 10:30 p.m., courts one through four are reserved for team practice.

All eight clay courts are set up with lights for evening playing. The club handles maintenance of all the courts, and visitors are not expected to sweep the courts after use. Before use, visitors can personally sweep the court or have a ball boy sweep the court for them.

Lessons

Lessons are arranged through the instructors. The instructors do not work for the club, but work privately. To schedule a lesson, you must call the instructor personally.

There is no minimum age for lessons. Normally children old enough to hold a racket are able to lessons, though the instructors can assess if a child is capable or not. Generally children as young as seven or eight years old may begin to take tennis lessons.

The price for an instructor is negotiable, but the common price ranges from 80-100 Dhs per hour. The instructor pays for a ball boy.

*Note: Though the instructor schedules the court, you still have to pay for the court, and, if necessary, the lights as well in addition to the instructor fees.

Stringer

Stringer

Club Riad has a stringer, which is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They can restring or regrip your racket for you. It is located next to the front four courts in a small hut marked Cordage. The club provides two different types of strings.

1) Nylon Strings
2) Synthetic Strings
3) Optional: The club will restring the racket with strings that you provide personally.

Cost:

Grip: 20 Dhs
Nylon Strings: 70 Dhs
Synthetic Strings: 80 Dhs
The stringer can work on your racket while you wait, or you could leave your racket over an extended period of time.

Club Cafe

Informal Club Restaurant

The restaurant is open to all visitors. The menu varies from day to day. It generally includes:

  • Breakfast: omelets
  • Lunch: brochettes, sandwiches
  • Dinner: pizza, salad, light dinner, fruit, dessert

The price for a meal varies, depending on the dish. A visitor can generally eat for 40-60 Dhs per person.

Bar

The Club Bar serves alcohol and drinks.

 

Bridge

The Club runs a bridge club, which is open from 6:00 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. The club runs classes and tournaments.

T.V. Lounge

The Riad Club provides this T.V. lounge, which is an excellent place to relax, with sofas and a T.V.

Swimming Pool

Entrance Fee: 50 Dhs

The pool opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. It is an outdoor pool that is opened year round. The pool is not heated so the swimmers during the winter tend to be lap swimmers willing to swim in cold water.

Changing Rooms

Club Riad provides changing rooms for both men and women. Each has four showers. The club does not provide lockers for visitors; personal items should be kept in a personal bag at the pool or on a court.

Buying Rackets

Club Riad does not run a tennis supply store. Your instructor can arrange for private salesmen to come sell rackets that you are able to demo. The racket prices are negotiable. A quality racket can generally be purchased for approximately 800 Dirham.

Parking and Front Entrance

Front gate

The parking area is located right in front of the club. Spaces are easily available. A paved road runs from the main road to the front entrance. The parking area is dirt and gravel. There is also a parking guard.
Club Riad also has a security guard at the front entrance.

Other Facilities

In front of the club is a large park, associated with the club. This is a very good area for walking and jogging.
Club Riad also has one small soccer field inside the club.
