The F.U.S. club is the most known basketball club in Rabat, Morocco. You can play both basketball and soccer.

Facilities

F.U.S. has a basketball gym which can hold up to 400 people as well as a gymnastic room containing weights. It also has two outside basketball courts for the players in the younger categories and is in the process of constructing more courts. There are many basketballs that are in adequate condition.

F.U.S. is not only a basketball club; there are two soccer fields outside, and members can also play soccer in the gym where there are two indoor goals. This campus us split in two sections, soccer and basketball. In general, the facilities are in good condition. The campus is kept clean and well organized with guards making sure that it’s a safe environment and cleaning staff to keep the facilities tidy at all times.

Player Categories

F.U.S. basketball is made up of several categories:

  • School of Children (Children from 8 to 12 years old)
  • “Les minims” girls and boys (13-14 year old)
  • “Les cadets” girls and boys (15 – 16 years old)
  • Juniors boys and girls (17-18 years old)
  • “Les espoirs” boys and girls (19-20 years old)
  • Seniors boys and girls (20 years old and above)

In each category there is a different coach, with a technical manager responsible for designing the strategies for each team. Players in the teenaged categories need to take a physical test in front of numerous coaches to determine their level. If one fails the physical test, then s/he is not accepted. Children between the ages of eight and twelve are not tested.

Club Color and Traveling

Once you are a member of the club, you get to play games and competition against other schools. Older players age twenty and above get to play throughout Africa for the African World Cup each year. For these older, more experienced players, there is a tremendous amount of playing time.

Signing Up

You sign up according to your age. Children from eight to twelve years old need to fill out a form which contains a picture of themselves as well as their date of birth. In this club children don’t need to pay to be classified as a member. A player must be an experienced player to be accepted. When you are accepted, you are given the club’s program and a practice time.

To sign up, you can come whenever the club is open. The club only closes when there is a religious celebration. Once you are a member, they make you an I.D card that includes your picture, your age and your name. This I.D. card is necessary to be allowed entrance to the F.U.S. campus.

History and Further Information

F.U.S. basketball club was created in 1946. Its staff that is made up of 15 people including the President, the General Secretary and the General Treasurer.

The club earns money from competitions and allowing other teams to use their facilities, as well as fees the older players pay for their practices and competitions around Africa. The price depends on what position they play and how good they perform.

F.U.S. has proudly won seventeen titles, eight championships and two Magreb championships. These titles are displayed in the trophy room.
