Tadelakt, A Moroccan Architectural Tradition

Introduction

Tadelakt is a coating material based on limestone. It is a technique uniquely used in Morocco. This coating covers the surface of finished constructions, such as walls and pottery. It can also be used to imitate other styles of construction, such as bricks. Tadelakt is unique by its properties: it is elastic, long-lasting, solid, and waterproof, and most importantly, it can be used on round surfaces. The large palette of fantastic colors it can have makes it very attractive. Tadelakt gives to modern construction a reminder of the past. Because of its beautiful and unique qualities, Tadelakt is an expensive coating, but it is worth it.
