A wonderful week for University Counseling at RAS and a busy October month ahead!

Seth Allen, Vice- President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Pomona College spoke to RAS Parents about US admissions, then presented to all Grade 10, 11 and 12 students. He also facilitated a workshop for our teachers on how to write effective teacher recommendations for selective schools in the US!

Michael Durant from New York University (who is the NYU application reader for Africa) opened our College Counseling season with the seniors, and answered great questions regarding how to make common application essays stick out to the reader, the use of standardized testing in the admissions process, and what NYU looks for when making admissions decisions – from 75 000 applications they received last year!

Upcoming US University Visits for October: Babson College, EducationCity Qatar (Representatives from Texas A&M, Georgetown, Carnegie Melon, Northwestern and Weill Cornell Medical College), Northeastern University, Boston University and Bentley College DePauw University and Lynn University.
