Exchange of Ideas Between Colleagues

on March 31, 2017 Uncategorized with 0 comments

On March 10th and 11th, RAS teachers welcomed our American School of Marrakech colleagues in the elementary school and secondary school Math departments on campus to observe classes and exchange ideas regarding math teaching philosophies and pedagogies.  Topics of conversation included: constructivist and student-centered teaching practices; the use of diagrams, manipulatives, and other sensory modal tools; the advantages and challenges of group work; criterion-based assessment; utilizing MAP data and data in general to inform teaching and learning; and alignment with the Common Core Standards. Excitingly, joint participation in Math Contests was also suggested and warmly received by all involved.  Another trip is in planning stage for our RAS teachers to travel down to ASM later this spring.
